Beacon Hill Coastal Pool & Deck

Natural style composite decking contrasting with imported travertine pool edging and seamless glass surrounds.

A pool surround has to do two jobs at once: cope with constant water, sun and bare feet, and still look like it belongs beside the house. This Beacon Hill project shows how we approach that balance, pairing a natural toned composite deck with imported travertine coping and frameless glass, so the pool zone stays open, light and easy to live with.

Composite decking was selected for the entertaining area around the pool. Unlike natural timber, the composite board keeps its colour and surface through wet, high traffic pool use without the regular sanding and oiling a hardwood deck demands in a salt air suburb. The natural tone of the board gives the deck the warmth of timber while letting the pale travertine coping carry the lighter, cleaner notes around the water edge. Frameless glass surrounds complete the pool zone, holding the required barrier without chopping the garden into visual segments, from the deck, the eye travels straight through the glass to the planting beyond.

Materials & Finishes Used

  • Trex composite decking
  • Imported travertine pool coping
  • Frameless glass pool surrounds

The finished space pairs a warm, natural toned deck with pale stone coping and uninterrupted glass lines, a pool surround that reads calm and coastal rather than busy, and ties the entertaining zone visually back to the garden.
